Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Bureau of Chronic Disease Evaluation and Research (BCDER) conducts population health surveillance, program evaluation and performance measurement, with a commitment to and focus on health equity, for Division of Chronic Disease Prevention programs and others throughout the Department of Health.  Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Evaluation Specialist IV, to work within the Bureau of Chronic Disease Evaluation and Research, to lead evaluation, surveillance, and performance measurement activities for the Department’s cancer programs.  This position will work closely with internal program partners and external partners and oversee evaluation, surveillance, performance measurement and reporting requirements for a variety of cancer prevention and control program interventions.  Day to day activities include oversight of cancer-related data collection, data analysis, report development and dissemination, participation in workgroups and meetings with partners and staff supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of experience in the evaluation and/or analysis of health, human services or related programs and/or fields; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and six years of such experience; OR eight years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience. The incumbent in this position will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences, or a related field; at least two years of experience with SAS or similar programming experience; experience with grant reporting; strong data management and analysis experience; experience with data visualization; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience public speaking and dissemination; supervisory experience. Experience in cancer evaluation and performance measurement. Experience or understanding of social determinants of health and principles of health equity.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. 

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
