Legislative Assistant lll - Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred  

Hourly Pay Range - $20.66 - $30.98

Job Summary:  The Legislate Assistant represents elected Supervisors in their public office, delivers responsive constituent services and executes administrative responsibilities in a diverse workplace. Provides shared services for the department and district Supervisory offices.

                                                    

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interact with the public, County officials, and community organizations in a professional and positive manner. Answer phones, respond to emails, and assist walk-in constituent concerns.
  • Organize County schedules and public files for elected officials. Track Committee and County Board meetings. Research County legislation. Coordinate town hall meetings and other district activities.
  • Draft written communications on behalf of elected officials. Develop district mailings, both print and eNews.
  • Manage constituent database in Salesforce, a CRM tool, and Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based applications.
  • Various projects supporting the mission of the legislative branch that arise due to the continuously shifting atmosphere of the department.
  • Perform various duties as assigned to ensure success of the department's mission.

 

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Qualified candidates authorized to work in the United States and must establish Wisconsin State residency within six (6) months of appointment.
  • High School Diploma/GED and the completion of at least one year of education at an accredited post-secondary school.
  • One or more years of experience working in a professional office setting.
  • Reliable transportation needed for occasional in-person district events or in-person work at the County Board office.
  • Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel and Salesforce CRM

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Bilingual English and Spanish; proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading Spanish STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • Experience in project management or working in government.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to speak effectively before both internal and external groups and ability to work well with a variety of people at various levels.
  • The ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • The ability to interpret policy and recommend course of action.
  • The ability to make decisions of responsibility, involving evaluation of information. Decisions may require development or application of alternatives or precedents.
  • Utilize judgment in the adaptation and interpretation of established practices and procedures to meet problems and situations to which the application is not clearly defined.
  • The ability to plan and perform work in light of new or constantly changing environment when problems are presented.
  • The ability to deal with complex factors not easily evaluated. Decisions require considerable judgment, initiative and ingenuity in areas there is little precedent.
