Data Specialist Summer Intern, MIT Startup Exchange

The successful intern will join the MIT Startup Exchange team for the summer, working with the team members to learn, understand, update, identify weaknesses, recommend improvements to, and implement approve improvements to the Startup Exchange database. As an important asset/tool helping the team to facilitate and promote collaborations and partnerships between MIT-connected startups and corporates, the Startup Exchange database must reflect the current status and vital information of startups as they grow, iterate, succeed, fail, are acquired, or go public. The intern will work in direct collaboration with the team to analyze and sanitize third party data sets and review/update existing information. As appropriate, the intern will contact entrepreneurs to validate data, reporting/data visualization, and manage the database data. This is an excellent opportunity for a current undergraduate studying data science, business analytics, or a related field to apply their strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills to make an immediate impact on the operations of the Startup Exchange program. For an intern seeking exposure to the innovation ecosystem, this is an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team with a robust schedule of startup workshops, showcases, and networking events.

This internship will provide an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with various data while familiarizing yourself with the PitchBook database. The intern's primary responsibility will be to assist in managing our program's startup database and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of information. Additionally, the intern will be assigned to compare our existing lists with data from the PitchBook database to identify overlaps, gaps, and potential areas for improvement.
