The South Dakota Commission on Gaming is hiring an Audit & Compliance Manager to join their Spearfish, SD team. In our team, integrity is everything! This role will maintain an audit compliance program, supervise a small staff, and prepare and review statistical reports related to revenue collection and distribution. Minimal travel required, mainly in-state travel to Pierre, SD. Opportunity to attend an annual trade-related national conference.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Ability to critically think, be adaptable and want to lead a small Operations-focused team. Relevant working experience in accounting, auditing, administering an audit and/or compliance program, and/or equivalent experience is required. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field is preferred, but not required.

Experience working in collaborative team environments and demonstrating effective time management, organizational skills with attention to detail. Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to use discretion and handle confidential information.

Knowledge of gaming is helpful, but not required.

Knowledge of:

  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAS); and
  • audit and compliance best practices.

Skill to:

  • effectively supervise a small team;
  • analyze gathered information, prepare detailed reports, and present information;
  • use a variety of computer software programs; and
  • provide professional customer service.

Ability to:

  • utilize effective interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills;
  • understand and interpret state law, rules, and regulations related to gaming activities;
  • communicate clearly and concisely;
  • gather, organize, and analyze financial data and prepare in an effective and logical sequence;
  • make determinations from data to solve problems;
  • build and maintain effective internal and external working relationships, including the public;
  • prioritize workload to meet deadlines; and
  • work independently and in a team setting when needed.
