Law Enforcement Admin Support

Start/End Dates: July 2024 – March, 2025

Compensation: $750 per week + $1000 monthly for housing

Position Description: 

The Law Enforcement Admin Resource Assistant will have the opportunity to learn about the Law Enforcement (LE) mission, field operations, and related aspects. If funds are available, the student may attend and complete the 36-hour training hosted by R2 in June 2024 in Colorado Springs, CO, which requires per diem support.The student will have the chance to visit the fire cache at the Federal Center to understand their operations, such as weather machines and fire kit preparation. Additionally, they will visit the FS aviation center in Broomfield, CO. The student will be informed about any potential volunteer opportunities hosted by Public Affairs.

 

Responsibilities:
The Law Enforcement Admin Resource Assistant will assist with the following tasks, which may vary::

  • Applying record retention policies to files, including hardcopy and Pinyon files, and ensuring appropriate filing according to NARA guidelines, disposal regulations, and proper organization.
  • Conducting property inventory for both sensitive and non-sensitive items
  • Assisting with budget program duties
  • Providing administrative support for the Forest Protection Officer Program
  • Completing certificates, preparing training session agendas, and other related administrative tasks.
  • Participating in ride-alongs with nearby Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs)
  • Managing phone calls, recording meeting minutes, and following up with correspondence.
  • Assisting with the issuance and tracking of various equipment.
  • Providing budget administration assistance and other administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Major studies relevant to this position are Business Administration, Business Systems, Criminal Justice, and Accounting

  • Experience working in a diverse environment that is rapidly changing and detail oriented. Ability to handle and safeguard potentially sensitive information.
  • Outgoing, socially capable, mature, ability to think under stress
  • Interest in administration and/or law enforcement
  • Microsoft 365 Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook) or equivalent; word processing, spreadsheet, and database skills a plus
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to pass relevant background check
  • Proficient in electronic filing systems or willing to learn
  • Ability to update and revise existing databases
