Job Summary:

Student Experiences & Engagement is seeking a Craft Center Director. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Craft Center Director is an administrator within the Student Experiences & Engagement (SEE) organization and provides leadership for the Craft Center. The Director creates an environment that leverages the strengths of staff, colleagues, and stakeholders, promotes teamwork and accountability, and challenges all team members to grow. Responsibilities include providing vision and leadership for developing, implementing, and evaluating services in the 10,500 square foot Craft Center that allow students to create, destress, and renew themselves.

What You Will Need

• Bachelor’s degree in art, liberal arts, business, or a related field relevant to the duties of the position.
• Five years of full-time equivalent experience in program management, budget oversight, and personnel supervision.
• Broad knowledge of arts and craft materials, tools and equipment and related safety aspects associated with operation and health hazards.
• Proficiency in one or more craft areas.
• Teaching experience in a classroom setting, community arts center, or arts program.
• Competence and efficient computer skills for spreadsheets, payroll, word processing, and document generation.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make complex and collaborative decisions.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• A commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and equity.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

What We Would Like You to Have

• Graduate degree in art, education, college student services administrator a related field relevant to the duties of the position.
• Two or more years of full-time equivalent experience in artistic instruction or teaching
• Two or more years of full-time equivalent work experience in a college or university setting.
• Experience with marketing programs and services.
• Experience with planning events.
• Experience with graphic design.
• Experience managing social media content and accounts.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

The working conditions for this role involve a busy public facility with frequent interruptions and noise. Work hours typically span Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends required. The worker may be required to sit or stand at a computer workstation for extended periods. The employee may encounter hazardous art materials and equipment, and the environment can be dusty, dirty, and have material-related smells. The role may involve lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
