Biological Science Technician
This position is located in Biscayne National Park, in the Natural Resources Management Division.

The park is 95% water, and the majority of the terrestrial areas are on islands or accessible only by boat. This is a natural resource technician position, and a wide variety of complex biological science technical support tasks are required to be performed in/on/under water.
 

Duties

Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

  • Collect and organize field data to monitor, manage, and/or restore a wide variety of natural resources, utilizing SCUBA and snorkel/ free-diving when appropriate.
  • Conduct habitat restoration activities in resonse to debris accumulations, coral disease outbreaks, and vessel groundings.
  • Prepare, install and maintain mooring buoys and aids to navigation.
  • Engage in activities to remove invasive species and reduce harmful effects of non-native species in the park.
