Senior Associate - IT Infrastructure & Security Engineer
Champlain is seeking an experienced, technologically proficient, and detail-oriented Senior Associate – IT Infrastructure & Security Engineer to join the Vermont-based IT Infrastructure and Support Team. Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain essential IT infrastructure, including server operating systems, servers, software, and hardware;
- Manage, monitor, and configure cloud infrastructure components;
- Assist and/or lead deployment of IT solutions in on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments;
- As part of a team, maintain security operations by managing and maintaining various security and log aggregation tools;
- Triage alerts and events, perform follow-up investigations;
- Tune security tools used for monitoring and managing the firm’s various environments;
- Participate in security incident investigations and respond to potential intrusions;
- Assist and/or lead the deployment of new security solutions and tools;
- Work with the IT Infrastructure and Support Team to manage, update, and create procedures related to key IT functions and processes;
- Serve as the subject matter expert and escalation point for infrastructure management and support incidents;
- Backup internal and external support teams as needed to manage and triage IT incidents; and
- Work with the Director of Technology to research, architect, and deploy best-in-class technology and security solutions.
About the Successful Candidate:
To excel in this role, candidates should be experienced at identifying and building robust and reliable IT infrastructures, developing testing methodologies, and have a background in systems and infrastructure engineering. Strong proficiency with network security administration, tooling, and management/deployment of security solutions is required.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who offers suggestions and thrives on building new processes. Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills, as well as an extensive knowledge of system and network administration of a hybrid-cloud infrastructure environment, is required.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science/engineering or a related field is required, as is at least 7 years of relevant IT experience – including implementing and managing virtualization solutions, systems administrator, configuring routers/switches/firewalls, implementing and managing enterprise storage solutions, managing enterprise email systems.

- Security frameworks, access control and compliance requirements based on industry standards such as: ISO27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, PCI-DSS-DSS, FINRA, SEC guidelines
- Identity and account management
- Vulnerability management systems and SIEM solutions
- Networking and firewall management
- Provisioning solutions with appropriate levels of user enablement and access on cloud and hosted systems
