Producer’s Assistant - Fundraising & Community Outreach Internship

Are you an aspiring producer, writer, or content creator? Curious how independent filmmakers find financing? Academy Award-nominated director/producer Matia Karrell’s production company, The Red Door Films, is building a savvy team of interns for the summer to assist producer Hilary Prentice on the documentary, Coming Home: Fight for a Legacy, one of the last untold stories of WWII, about our first female military aviators who were key to the Allies’ success, but who most Americans have never heard of and who have yet to be included in mainstream narratives about WWII. 

You will have the opportunity to work with social media accounts that reach 3-5 million audiences, as well as learn how to harness the power of social media to successfully run crowdfunding campaigns, build a brand, write engaging content, craft pitches, and build community to ensure the success of your independent film. 

Key responsibilities include scheduling social media content, researching influencers, writing engaging social media posts and newsletters, and if you are a visual artist, creating videos for TikTok, YouTube & Instagram Reels. Tracking donors and researching funding opportunities are also part of this team’s tasks.
 

This is an unpaid remote internship for school credit. Hours are flexible, but looking for a minimum commitment of 10+ hours/week. The start dates are flexible, but interns are expected to start work as soon as possible, starting with a training process with the current team of interns.

The Red Door Films takes pride in mentoring students and this will give you a hands-on understanding of documentary filmmaking, editing, producing, and production management. Through this mentorship program, you will connect with women who want you to succeed and will guide you along the way. Seeking enthusiastic candidates with strong writing skills, graphic skills, and problem-solvers who are highly organized, self-starters, and curious about all facets of the film production process.
