About the Opportunity
FamilyAid (FA) is Greater Boston’s leading provider of solutions to family homelessness. Its mission is to empower parents and caregivers facing homelessness to secure and sustain housing and build strong foundations for their children’s futures.
The hundred-plus year-old agency has launched bold new strategies to reduce two-generation homelessness by dramatically increasing its prevention, housing, and supportive services for children and parents, putting the organization on a fast-growth trajectory.
To support these strategies, the agency seeks dynamic, driven student interns to contribute to the agency’s work with homeless families with children, through conducting housing search services, thus deepening our two-generation approach to more than 4,000 children and parents.

Job Summary:
FamilyAid is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join its team as a Communications and Media Intern. This internship offers practical experience for students interested in social media management, communications, copywriting, content creation and media monitoring within the nonprofit sector.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in implementing communications strategies to effectively promote FamilyAid’s mission, programs and initiatives.

Support the creation of content for various communication channels, including social media posts, e-newsletters and blog posts.

Regularly monitor media coverage and relevant news stories, trends and developments related to FamilyAid and the broader sector.

Support growth of FamilyAid’s social media channels, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.

Proficiency with social media scheduling and analytics tools (Metricool, Facebook Business Manager) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Graphic design skills and experience with basic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).

Familiarity with social media platforms and trends, including best practices for content creation and engagement.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Passion for social impact and a commitment to FamilyAid’s mission-driven work.
Location and Work Conditions: This position is currently hybrid (specific schedule to be determined by student and supervisor) due to Covid-19 restrictions. FamilyAid’s headquarters are at 3815 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02130
Work Schedule: Dependent on school requirements, to be discussed with supervisor and school contact. Days and hours to be determined, with the flexibility to best meet client and program needs.
