Housing Program Assistant

HOUSING PROGRAM ASSISTANT-BILINGUAL, SPEAKS SPANISH

 

Part Time $20-$25/hr., full time, Salarydepending on degree,experience and fluencyin Spanish.

Bonus:$1000 if pass the HUD HousingCounselor Certification withinthree months. $1000 after six months of satisfactory employment and pass the HUD Certification as a Housing Counselor.

Job Description: Provide counseling and assistance for individuals and families in locating and securing housing, including packaging and submitting apartment applications.

 

  • Counsel clients with respect to their overall financial situation as it relates to budgeting affordability, debt reduction, credit re-building and education.
  • Create an action plan for clients.
  •  Build relationships with local brokers, developers, property managers and other partnerprofessionals to develop referral sources.
  •  Enter client's appointment and follow up notes in a timely manner to ensure data integrity collection and management for reports.
  • Adhere to all guidelines relatedto the confidentiality of client recordsand information and requirements.
  • Participation in local housing events.
  • Manage housing workshops - in personand virtual.
  •  Working collaboratively with staff to produce effective marketing of housing program. and procuring partner speakers.
  • Obtain industry required certifications as per grant requirements.
  • Participate in agency sponsored training;training required by HUD; intermediaries and partners.

 

Job Requirements & Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred. Associate's degree with two years or more of experience in the human services field.
  • Preferred candidates should have a working knowledge of local housing issues faced by people who need affordable housing or the ability to learn.
  • Candidates should have basic knowledge of Medicaid eligibility and coverage or be able to learn quickly,
  • Possess excellent writtenand oral communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to activelylisten and, when appropriate, counselthroughout the housingsearch process.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Computer literate on basic MicrosoftPrograms such as Word, Outlookand Internet search use.
  • Respectful of persons with a disability, from differentcultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Bilingual skills preferred. Fluency in Spanish a plus.
  • Must Own Transportation and the abilityto travel in Westchester,
