MDC Information Center Advisors
Miami Dade College is now accepting applications for MDC Information Center Advisors. The MDC Information Center Advisor responds to telephone calls, e-mail inquiries, and live chats from current and prospective students and ensures follow-up communication. This position supports college campaigns and provides students with recommendations regarding academic advisement, career related topics, financial aid, registration, and resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides academic advisement to new, current, transfer, transient, undecided, and reverse transfer students
- Assists students with the selection of programs of study
- Resolves student advisement and enrollment issues
- Assists students with course scheduling and academic planning
- Provides information regarding eligibility requirements
- Participates in scheduled training activities and workshops
- Provides information about graduation and verifies graduation eligibility
- Provides admission assessment, registration, and financial aid information
- Participates in recruiting activities
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related field and three (3) years of related experience
- All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
- Knowledge of academic advising principles and practices
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to interpret and apply college policies and procedures using professional judgment and common sense
- Knowledge of Microsoft office software and student information systems
- Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism at all times
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Outstanding customer service skills and ability to resolve problems in a calm, understanding and helpful manner
- Ability to logically analyze problems and determine the appropriate action to be taken for resolution
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
