Job Description

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the performance of activities and tasks which are applicable to the programs and areas

General tasks and responsibilities will include: 

The intern’s work will focus on three key facets:

  • Project Based – Each intern will perform the assigned operational work and/or assigned a project(s) for a specific finance function.  Interns are expected to analyze the project and propose creative, efficient solutions to improve the work.  Their experience, findings, and solutions will be included as a part of the end of summer Capstone presentations.
    Central Office Finance Operations – Interns will get an overview of Finance activities at a corporate level and have the opportunity to learn about the day-to-day operations of a specific corporate level finance function.
  • Hospital / Healthcare Facility Finance Operations – Interns will have the opportunity to visit and/or work at an assigned hospital or other healthcare facility to experience finance operations first hand.
  • Interns will also have many opportunities to interface with and meet Senior Finance Leaders throughout the course of the program. These leaders are available to offer mentoring and career coaching in the field of Healthcare Finance Administration.
     

Minimum Qualifications

 

Level I:

  • Students in high school or entering freshman year through the completion of senior year of college.

Assignment Level I (Designated ONLY for Central Office and MetroPlus):

  • Students must be at least 16 years of age at the time of appointment, and no student may be employed more than half-time during any week when the student is enrolled in classes that are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
     

Department Preferences

 

  • Students who have completed their first year of graduate or professional studies (beyond a Bachelor’s degree) and subsequent years of study.
  • Master in Health Administration
  • Master in Public Health
  • Master in Business Administration
  • Master in Public Administration
  • Bachelors – Public Health, Finance, Accounting, Math and Economics Majors / Concentrations
