Deep Tech Analysis and Business Development Internship

 

The Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation (DCTI) grants funds to MIT researchers to advance their inventions towards commercialization and impact. As a result of our rigorous review, funding, and mentoring process, DCTI spinouts have launched multiple products in an array of industries.

 

We seek an intern to lead a new business development initiative to advance and amplify the Deshpande Center’s message and value. Tasks include data gathering, technology showcasing, mining, synthesis and communication. The intern will be charged with crafting a business development plan.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

Data gathering from

  • Questionnaires
  • Administration Files
  • Interviews
  • Web materials

 

Together with the Deshpande Center team, the intern will lead the business development program designed to attract 1) sponsorship and donor funds; and 2) faculty and graduate student engagement in the DCTI.

 

There is a lot of opportunity for creativity and original thinking in this position.

 

One will learn not only about the value of collecting, synthesizing, and analyzing information, but also how to communicate it in a value-add manner for specific audiences. The student will also learn about technology development and commercialization, entrepreneurship, and the startup world.

 

Requirements:

 

While similar experience can be valuable, more important is enthusiasm to be a part of the DCTI team and learning about the above topics.

 

Work may be performed remotely with a once per week in person update meeting with the team.

 

Up to 20 hours per week. Compensation commensurate with experience.

 

The candidate should be an undergrad junior or master’s student who will be at MIT next year.
