Legal Assistant

ZMO Law PLLC is seeking a hard-working, detail-oriented, self-sufficient college graduate as a full-time legal assistant. An interest in criminal defense, attention to detail, and flawless English-language skills are required.

This job is difficult, demanding, and fast-paced. ZMO Law clients include people accused of large-scale narcotics trafficking, homicide, organized crime, sex offenses (including child pornography), and white-collar fraud crimes in both state and federal courts in New York. Legal Assistant duties include supporting four attorneys in all aspects of law office and client management such as proofreading letters and legal papers, scheduling and confirming appointments, billing, purchasing supplies and meals, sorting mail, managing the office (including tidying the kitchen area), filing, and calendaring. An undergraduate degree or significant office administration experience is required. The successful applicant must be persistent, meticulous, discreet, and able to work independently. You should demonstrate an interest in and sensitivity to the rights of people accused of serious crimes and a desire to learn about criminal law and procedure. You must be proficient in Microsoft Word and savvy with social media, Excel, Google Workspace, and comfortable with information technology in general. Foreign language ability (Spanish, Russian, or Chinese) is strongly preferred.

The position is available immediately. The job is full-time during business hours in person at our midtown offices. The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000, based on qualifications and experience.
