Job Description:

Responsibilities:

The Health Program Education Coordinator I will work within the Bureau of Vital Records. The Bureau of Vital Records (BVR) registers and maintains birth, marriage, death, adoption, and divorce records for New York State in collaboration with over 1200 local vital records registrars (not including New York City).  The incumbent will be responsible for providing oversight to the Registration, Training and Support unit to ensure that births, deaths, and marriages are registered according to program policy and public health laws. The incumbent will supervise a team that provides training, guidance and support to local filers, birthing hospitals and other internal/external stakeholders on the implementation of electronic registration systems of vital events.  The incumbent will develop and implement a training and outreach plan that includes routine communication with local filers.  Trainings will be conducted on-line and in-person.  The incumbent will also be responsible for managing the registration of delayed births and fetal deaths at the state level.   

Minimal Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of experience conducting training programs in health education, public health, health care, or a related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Public Health or related field.  At least two years of experience conducting training programs in health education, public health, health care or related field; one year of conducting trainings with a team; one year providing trainings in person and online; one year conducting skills-based training.  At least one year experience supervisory experience. 

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.


This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
