Position Description:

One (1) Permanent-Exempt, full time, (40 hours/week), full year (260 days/year) position. Exempt employees are considered “at will” and serve at the discretion of the appointing officer.

This position is grant funded and funding is reviewed on an annual basis. Appointments is subject to change dependent upon grant status.
Under the direction of Dean of Outreach, Enrollment and Community Partnerships, the 3374 Volunteer/Outreach Coordinator will work collaboratively to coordinate the outreach program's operation, planning, student recruitment, and support services. The position consists of professional work involved in planning, implementing, and evaluating student outreach for City College of San Francisco's programs at Center locations and the main campus. Essential functions are direct services to potential and current students; overseeing the Student Ambassador program, providing outreach services, organizing and supporting on and off-campus events, and coordinating technical support activities. Under direction, the position collaborates with staff, faculty, and administrators to strategically plan a variety of outreach programs, services, and enrollment activities related to enhancing college admissions, retention, and community partnerships. Public contact is extensive and includes staff, students, outside educational institutions, community organizations, businesses, and the general public for the purpose of increasing enrollment at City College of San Francisco.

A flexible work schedule including evening and weekend hours is mandatory. Possession of a valid California Driver's License and the ability to drive to off-site locations are required. The ability to lift 20 lbs. is required.

Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Dean of Community Outreach, Enrollment, & Student Engagement:

1. Represent City College of San Francisco at community-based organizations, government agencies, and schools on and off campus; this includes but is not limited to: credit and noncredit enrollment workshops, community events, job fairs, CCSF presentations, tours and events at CCSF centers and Ocean campus; Hours include weekends and evenings;

2. Exchanges information with management and other staff, community and government agencies, educational institutions, and others regarding outreach, enrollment, retention, and related services; makes presentations to small and large groups to provide information about City College of San Francisco; drives a motor vehicle to off-site locations to attend meetings, special events, workshops, and other activities to obtain current information; designs, coordinates and conducts campus tours for potential students;

3. Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates student recruitment programs, events, activities and services, in conjunction with other staff, faculty, administrators, students, other educational institutions and business/community representatives;

4. Coordinates, schedules, trains, and directs Student Ambassadors in activities such as staffing welcome desks, enrollment workshops, campus tours, phone calls, school visits, community events, and other recruitment/retention programs.

5. Researches student enrollment and retention history and trends for use in developing campaigns, surveys, presentations, and other materials for outreach to potential and current students;

6. Develops and conducts outreach campaigns and other communications to current and prospective students using a variety of media (e.g. email, direct mail, social media, text messaging).

7. Collaborates with student development, academic affairs, and other college personnel to develop recruitment and retention campaigns that target specific populations, college courses, majors, and programs; meets with community-based organization and government agency staff to compile data related to potential student interests, scholastic goals, demographics and other topics;

8. Supports and implements campuswide events such as Welcome Days, Commencement, and CCSF Connect.

9. Provides prospective and new students with transition support and serves as a primary point of contact for students to academic and student support services within the institution;

10. Gathers, compiles, analyze data and prepares reports using database programs, spreadsheets, various word processing applications, and statistical techniques to conduct needs assessments, evaluation reports, compile and analyze statistical data, and prepare reports for student learning outcome program evaluation;

11. Actively participates in new technology including updates to website and communication platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, MailChimp, LinkedIn, Salesforce, and more;

12. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; AND

2. One year (2000 hours) of experience supervising, coordinating or directing volunteer services and/or community outreach services in an organization which provides services to the public.

Substitution: Additional experience supervising, coordinating or directing volunteer and/or community relations services, as described above, may be substituted for up to two years of the required baccalaureate degree on a year-for-year basis.

Note: College Work Study and Student Lab Aide experience with the District will be considered/applied as qualifying experience per an agreement made between the District and SEIU. This agreement will allow District students to take advantage of employment opportunities. March 2024.

1. Knowledge of City College of San Francisco, non-profit and community organizations and goals and objectives relative to student enrollment and retention;

2. Bilingual ability to write and speak Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese.

3. Skill in respectful, sensitive communication with people at all levels who are diverse in their cultures, languages and abilities;

4. Team player with excellent customer service skills who is highly motivated and committed to supporting prospective students in accessing educational opportunities.

Benefits:

1. Additional Days Off with Pay. As stipulated in the appropriate bargaining agreements and board resolutions, Classified employees working full year (260 days/year) work schedules are granted, as paid days off, the days between Christmas and New Year’s Day, as well as an additional five (5) paid days off during spring break. Eligible school- term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the designated days between Christmas and New Year’s Day shall be granted three (3) paid days off to be scheduled by mutual agreements between the employee and supervisor. Eligible school- term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the days designated as Spring Break will not be paid for these days off.
2. New employees hired on or after October 1, 2013 will contribute 2% of salary to the San Francisco Retiree Health Care Trust Fund (RHCTF).
