Job Description:

Responsibilities 

The Public Health Emergency Preparedness Representative IV will lead the Center for Environmental Health’s (CEH) Public Health Emergency Preparedness activities and serve as a resource for emergency preparedness readiness and response. Specific responsibilities will include leading environmental health response to emergency events by managing logistics and staffing, managing CEH’s communication systems, and deploying staff to emergency scenes to coordinate response efforts between local, state and federal partners. The Public Health Emergency Preparedness Representative IV will develop internal CEH preparedness plans, participate in the development of emergency response exercises for statewide infectious disease outbreaks and instruct the Public Health Preparedness course of the Basic Environmental Health Training Program. Additional responsibilities will include overseeing program completion of grant requirements, developing/reviewing preparedness related outreach and education materials, and coordinating occupational health and safety issues for the Center.

Minimum Qualifications 

A Bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience; OR an Associate's degree and six years of relevant experience; OR eight years of relevant experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Relevant experience must be in emergency preparedness planning and/or response.

Preferred Qualifications 

Knowledge of environmental health emergency preparedness responsibilities including; coordinating and implementing emergency management and disaster preparedness programs; preparation or modification of disaster plans; preparing, modifying, and presenting disaster educational training and/or exercises; completion of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Incident Command System courses 100, 200, 700 and 800.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.

This position will require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays. 

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
