Artistic Production Intern

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE LA COUNTY ARTS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM?

2024 Arts Internship positions will be open to currently enrolled undergraduate (2 or 4-year) and community college students who reside or attend college in Los Angeles County. Recent graduates may apply as long as they have completed their degree between May 1 - December 1, 2024. The Department of Arts and Culture encourages eligible students from all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as disabled students, to apply. Eligible students may participate in the program only once.

Note:

• Students who have already earned a BA, BS, or a higher degree are not eligible for the Los Angeles County Arts Internship Program.
• Students who have previously participated in the program are not eligible to participate a second time.
• Students must posses the legal right to work in the United States.
• Students who are invited to participate in the program will be asked to provide verification of eligibility via college transcripts, driver’s license, and other documents to show enrollment status and/or LA County residence.

DESCRIPTION

The Artistic Production Intern will participate in development, planning, and coordination of our 2024 season of events musically exploring legendary moments of American history rooted in a specific time and place. The intern will work closely with the Director of Artistic Planning to perform extensive research of repertoire, composers, songwriters, local, national, and international history and culture, assisting in the preparation of slides, videos, and multi-media materials to be used in preparation for each of the performances. The intern will also work as part of the artistic and production teams to facilitate logistics of putting on performing arts events by communicating with vendors and artists’ reps, maintaining artist files, prepping event materials and equipment, tracking contracts and artists’ agreements, and assisting with stage management and artist relations. This position will work 20-25hrs/wk from June-Nov, 2024, though flexibility is available for the right candidate.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

MUSE/IQUE is seeking a driven, reliable, self-starting intern with honesty, integrity, and curiosity. Above all, the intern must have a deep desire to learn and a strong sense of initiative. Successful candidates are punctual and conduct themselves respectfully and with great attention to detail, work well under pressure, and are proactive in problem-solving with an ability to balance multiple tasks independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines. The intern must have strong and effective written communication, organizational, and project management skills.  Must have experience in music or the performing arts with an active, demonstrable interest in local artistic communities. Literacy in standard music notation is preferred.  For events, the intern must be available to work some evening and weekend hours and have a reliable form of transportation and current driver’s license. Parking and mileage for business errands will be reimbursed.
