Position Overview:
As a Grant Writer specializing in homelessness at POWER CHANGES LIVES, you will play a vital role in advancing our mission. You're responsible for identifying, preparing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding that supports our homelessness programs. This position requires independent and proactive work, with a significant emphasis on research, writing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research and Identification:
▪ Locate and evaluate potential grant opportunities from government, corporations, and private foundations that align with the organization's mission and objectives on homelessness.
▪ Maintain an updated database of potential grant sources.
2. Proposal Development:
▪ Develop comprehensive, persuasive, and clear grant proposals and funding requests.
▪ Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information for project concept, program descriptions, logic models, goals, and budgets.
▪ Tailor writing to meet the specific requirements of each funder, adhering to deadlines.
3. Strategic Planning:
▪ Work closely with leadership and program managers to match funding needs with potential sources.
▪ Develop strategic plans to secure multi-year funding.
4. Relationship Management:
▪ Maintain ongoing communications with funding bodies to strengthen relationships.
▪ Provide regular progress reports and updates to funders as required.
5. Evaluation and Reporting:
▪ Monitor and evaluate grant-funded programs and projects, ensuring compliance with funders' guidelines.
▪ Prepare and submit grant reports and documentation requirements.
6. Documentation and Organization:
▪ Develop and maintain a grant writing library of templates, documentation, and data.
