Student worker, Early Intervention HIV Testing Counselor/Health Promotion Advocate
The Department of Emergency Medicine in the University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine is seeking part-time Student Workers to perform the duties of an Early Intervention HIV Testing Counselor/Health Promotion Advocate.
The Early Intervention HIV Testing Counselor/Health Promotion Advocate (HPA) provides screening, risk reduction counseling, and HIV and HCV testing services to patients in the Emergency Department at University of Cincinnati Medical Center or at UC Health West Chester Hospital. HPAs receive extensive training on risk assessment, motivational interviewing, medical research procedures and ethics, and public health.
This position provides an ideal experience for students interested in pursuing careers in medicine, nursing, sociology, social work, counseling, health promotion or public health.
Minimum Qualifications for student worker:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Enrolled at a post-secondary institution or a secondary school.
- Appointed as a Co-Op Student, Student Worker, or Work Study Student.
- Enrolled at least part-time (one or more credit hours if at a post-secondary institution), with the exception of summer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term.
- “Enrollment” shall include:
- The period between two successive terms for which the student is enrolled.
- The one “off” term in each academic year in which the student is not enrolled.
- Student employee status may be maintained for one additional term following graduation or withdraw from enrollment.
- “Enrollment” shall include:
- Students in their 3rd/4th year of school
