Family Team Conference Coordinator

PROGRAM SUMMARY

 

Asian Family Services (AFS) provides child welfare preventive services to help keep children and their families together and avoid the placement of children in foster care. AFS addresses the multi-level needs of Asian-American families, especially recent Chinese immigrants by providing support, advocacy, and referral to services and case management to Asian American families throughout the five boroughs. Our professional staff consists of bi- and tri-lingual and bi-cultural caseworkers.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Coordinate meetings and facilitate Family Team Conferences in-office and off-site.
  • Act as the liaison between the agency and ACS when setting up the conferences.
  • Document all outcomes from the Family Team Conferences and ensure that they are executed in a timely manner.
  • Take on cases on an as needed basis.
  • Assess and manage cases, evaluating for safety and risks.
  • Compile monthly statistics and other reports as needed by the program and funding source.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and Program Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field preferred.
  • Two years of relevant child welfare experience preferred.
  • Familiarity working with the child welfare system, community resources and government benefits preferred.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) and English a must.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including interpersonal skills working with families and children
  • Good computer skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work on evenings and weekends as required.

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW

 

  • $27.48 - $29.40 ($50,000 - $53,500 annual equivalent salary); 35 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends
