Provider Specialist
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the full-time Provider Specialist will assist with a grant-funded project to connect families in Queens to receive child care assistance and enroll them in high-quality child care programs. The Provider Eligibility Specialist utilizes high level interpersonal and problem-solving skills to identify and screen families for child care assistance, connect families with child care providers as needed, track children enrollment and maintain project data.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with agency staff and community service providers to identify families in need of childcare assistance
- Engage child care providers to maintain frequent commination with the team and families
- Schedule appointments for screening and completing childcare applications
- Support in screening families for eligibility utilizing a standardized tool
- Assist families to connect with childcare providers as needed
- Facilitate distribution of available funds to assist families
- Utilize excellent communication skills to engage families, trouble-shoot, and assist them with successfully using assistance
- Participate in community and outreach events in Queens to promote the grant-funded child care assistance to the community members in Queens
- Track funds distribution and childcare enrollment
- Maintain additional project data as needed
- Attend meetings with project team, funder and stakeholders
- Conduct site visits to child care programs as needed
- Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in community engagement or other forms of direct service
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to build and maintain close, daily professional interactions and relationships
- Ability to effectively communicate with families, child care providers, collaborators, and community members
- Excellent telephone and email etiquette
- Proficient in data entry and MS Office tools: Word and Excel
- Demonstrated cultural competence and cultural sensitivity with colleagues and community members
- Highly dependable and flexible
- Bilingual in English, Spanish and/or Chinese preferred
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and be self-motivating
- Ability to work in an office setting with a computer and phone
Additional Requirements:
- Some travel required to engage with families and community service providers within Queens
- Ability to work on some Saturdays
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW
- $24.73 - $26.38 per hour; 35 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends
