Communications Intern

Mayor’s Office, City of Erie

Internship Objective 

Gain valuable communications experience as you support the mayor's staff through social media, community relations, and event coordination.


Job Responsibilities

  • Create social media posts and other marketing materials utilizing brand and communication standards, including minimal graphic design
  • Monitor and moderate social media channels 
  • Assist with event coordination, including sponsor relations and program planning
  • Assist the mayor’s staff with scheduling, preparing for meetings, and conducting research for initiatives/projects
  • Support with day-of event duties, including communicating with necessary event staff
    to complete tasks
  • Attend meetings and events with the mayor’s staff
  • Answer phones, check voicemail, and log detailed messages
  • Efficiently manage your own email account
  • Perform other duties as assigned 


Earnings

Part-time, $14.00 per hour

 

Required Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in college studying communications, marketing, journalism, and/or another related field
  • Prior customer service and employment experience or internship 
  • A portfolio including strong writing samples and social media content
