Payroll Clerk

Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, Energix Renewables is a leading independent power producer that develops, constructs, owns and operates solar energy projects in Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky.

The role

The Payroll Clerk will be based in our US headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. In this role you will oversee the payroll function of the organization, ensuring that pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. In this capacity, you will develop policy and procedure for our rapidly growing renewable energy company. The Payroll Clerk must be able to execute on job responsibilities, as well as navigate our complex, fast-paced work environment.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The Payroll Clerk is anticipated to have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversees the scheduling and daily workflow of the payroll function.
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures.

Technical Skills & Expertise

  • 2-4 years track record of managing payroll in a comparable organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with all payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with payroll software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Davis-Bacon Act (DBA) experience preferred
  • Proactive and independent.
  • Excellent time management skills with a track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Team player with strong initiative, intrinsically motivated.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superb organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, major in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field also preferred.
  • At least two to four years of experience required.
  • Knowledge of Davis-Bacon Act and experience in processing certified payroll reports preferred
