Outdoor Youth Party Host

This is a weekend position, requiring at least 1-4 half or full days of work on Saturdays and/or Sundays, per month, to support outdoor youth birthday parties and community events at our site in Lincoln, MA. This often looks like one or two weekend shifts, ranging from 5-8 hours each (1-2 parties). Hours are mornings or afternoons. Candidates must be able to consistently work at least 1 weekend a month.

Programmatic Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility is to prepare, set up, and lead birthday parties at our site in Lincoln, MA for youth ages 4-13 with small groups of between 10-20 youth, along with their parents and guardians
- Utilize and adapt existing party curriculum. While you will primarily work off of birthday party plans previously developed by the Program team, the Party Host may occasionally develop and document new activities, subject to the Director of Education’s request or approval.
- Facilitate organized party and event activities and ensures children are active, interested, and safe throughout activities ensuring a high quality experience and engagement for families and their guests
- Greet, acknowledge, and interact with members and their guests in a friendly and professional manner
- You may be asked to support other weekend community events as well
- Report to coworkers any unsafe conditions and necessary repairs at FNL involving garden, trails, equipment, buildings, or COVID-19 protocols.
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age
- 2 years work experience with elementary school-aged children
- An outgoing, flexible, can-do approach to working with youth
- Hands-on outdoor experience (hiking, campfires, environmental science knowledge) is a plus, but is not a requirement. The ideal Party Host will model for youth a willingness to learn about, explore, and show enthusiasm toward aspects of nature that may or may not be personally familiar to the Party Host.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Have or be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR Certifications.
- Basic Computer and Technology Skills
- Physical ability to negotiate hilly terrain, dirt roads and dirt and gravel trails.
- Physical ability to respond quickly to situations requiring immediate action.
- Ability to work independently including ability to take direction with little follow-up
- Ability to be on feet continuously during shift
- Ability to speak clearly and confidently
- FNL staff members are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
- Applicants must agree to a CORI check as part of the job screening, but evidence of a criminal record is not necessarily an impediment to hiring. A copy of our CORI policy is available upon request.
