Transitional Living Coordinator

Position:                 Transitional Living Coordinator (Full Time)

Location:                Marsh Harbour, Abaco, Bahamas

 

About the Program: Every Child Counts Abaco (ECC) is a school for children with learning disabilities. It was built on the belief that every individual can contribute to society regardless of their physical or intellectual limitations. The school has 80 students, 26 teachers, and is expanding to include respite care for 4 adult students in an existing on campus and furnished residential building. The school is in search of a full-time employee to formalize and structure the program. All residents are expected to participate in their own care and routine tasks of the residence and participate in an on-campus work program Monday – Friday. It is the goal of the program to build a community of responsible individuals.

 

Responsibilities for the Transitional Living Coordinator are to:

  • Create, formalize and implement a residential housing program for no more than 4 adults who are Every Child Counts students.
  • Collaborate, connect and build strong relationships with the school’s families, staff, and community partners.
  • Measure impact, track progress, celebrate successes, and continually improve the program.
  • Collaborate with the school's founder and school administrator to identify program needs not limited to policy development and procedures.
  • Lead with purpose to design and implement engaging, skill enhancing programs for residents.
  • Empower participants and their families to set and achieve personal goals.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment where participants can thrive, not limited to organizing, hiring and supervising part-time staff.
  • Engage with the business community to match residents with work (on and off campus).

Requirements for the Transitional Living Coordinator include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with experience in Special Education, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or related field is preferred. Knowledge gained through life experiences will be strongly considered.
  • Experience in residential, transitional, or independent living settings with young adults with disabilities is preferred.
  • Part time living on campus required for respite nights. Free full time housing available
  • Salary based on credentials, experience and references. 
  • Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Work permit application required of non-Bahamian residents.
