Preschool Teacher
A well-established Newton preschool is seeking a dynamic, energetic Preschool Teacher to work in our preschool age classroom beginning in September 2025. Our school's philosophy focuses on the development of effective Social Skills, nurturing a strong Self-Esteem, and building a strong base of Readiness Skills. Classroom Teachers work together to develop and implement thematically-based Child Directed curriculum. The position is Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 1:30pm. There is the option of some additional hours in the afternoon Extended Day program as well.
Our school currently serves 30+ families and has 3 distinctive classrooms with children ages 2 - 5. We are open 8:00am - 3:00pm and we run an academic school year from the beginning of September until the Friday after Memorial Day. We are closed for all public school holidays and vacations. Staff have the option of working during our Summer Program, which begins immediately after the school year ends and runs until the beginning of August. The school is closed for most of August
Responsibilities of the position include working as part of a Teaching Team to plan and implement a socialization-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum; assisting with the daily routines of the classroom; and helping to carry out the overall mission of the preschool. In addition, staff are required to attend All-School Staff meetings that occur periodically during the year; and to fulfill EEC Staff Development training requirements.
Successful Candidates will have:
- A Bachelor's Degree (or working towards)
- Experience working with preschool aged children
- A basic knowledge of Child Development
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Capacity to create warm, nurturing relationships with children
- CPR/First Aid Certification (Preferred)
- EEC Teacher Certification or working towards
