Job Title: Accounting Intern (Non-Profit)

Location: Arc of Bristol County, Smithfield, RI

Department: Finance/Accounting

Reports To: Comptroller

Position Summary:


 

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to support the Finance team in the day-to-day operations of the organization. This internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, and grant tracking, and is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


 

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with data entry and maintenance of financial records using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)

• Reconcile bank statements and other financial documents

• Help track expenses and categorize transactions

• Support the preparation of monthly financial reports and budget tracking

• Assist with audit preparation and documentation

• Organize and file invoices, receipts, and other financial documents

• Conduct research related to nonprofit financial compliance and reporting requirements

• Participate in finance team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives


 

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field

• Basic understanding of accounting principles

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

• Interest in nonprofit operations and mission-driven work


 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with accounting software

• Prior internship or volunteer experience in a nonprofit setting
