Aceso Global (www.acesoglobal.org) is a Washington, D.C. nonprofit that provides strategic healthcare advisory services to strengthen health systems and achieve affordable, high-quality healthcare in emerging markets.
Founded in 2015 by two experts with decades of experience in the field, Aceso Global advises governments, insurers, private companies, foundations, and nonprofits in diagnosing problems, devising solutions, and creating value in hospitals and healthcare. Aceso Global undertakes research, analysis, and data collection to drive learning and collaboration across the global health community. Our work informs policymaking, healthcare investments, hospital management and financing, and front-line care improvements.
We are looking for a Program Manager to join us to assist with Aceso Global’s project management, supervise and guide junior staff members; and to research, and develop written, graphic, and presentational materials on various global health systems topics. This is an excellent opportunity with a dynamic organization that has high-profile international clients and conducts substantive, impactful health sector work. The Program Manager will work directly with, and learn from, leaders in global health. The Program Manager will also have the unique opportunity to take on a variety of meaningful responsibilities, and to travel internationally depending on project needs.
Aceso Global seeks professionals with either a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience or a master’s degree who want to be international health problem solvers and are eager to work in an innovative environment with significant social impact.
Program Managers can reasonably expect to acquire or improve valuable professional skills, including research skills; project coordination and management, technical knowledge of global health systems and financing; and experience working directly with clients from international organizations such as the World Bank, Gates Foundation, and The Global Fund plus emerging market governments and private companies.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Project management – Communicate with clients and other project stakeholders about project logistics, technical content, and deliverables; allocate work among project team members and monitor project progress; assist in identifying new project opportunities and writing and managing relevant proposals
- Knowledge management – Support research and report writing for technical papers, reports, and visual deliverables for clients and other partners; and review and supervise quality control measures for Aceso Global content and materials
- Research – Conduct organizational assessments and provide technical inputs for projects and presentations; consolidate research into written deliverables and visual presentations for clients and other partners; communicate research findings to internal and external teams as needed
- Mentorship and training – Provide ongoing guidance to junior staff to enhance their professional and technical skills to effectively carry out project tasks
- Conference support – Manage and oversee meeting arrangements, travel arrangements, event logistics, project coordination and the like
Requirements
Aceso Global is seeking early-career candidates with either a Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience, or a Master’s degree and an interest in international development, economics, and global health. Candidates should be highly organized and capable of managing multiple dynamic workstreams; they should have excellent writing, editing, and leadership skills. Regardless of academic concentration, a basic understanding of health and economics is an advantage as are completed courses in economics and statistics/econometrics. The candidate should possess:
- Organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to take initiative on work assignments, solve problems creatively, and serve as a leader;
- Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to contribute to a collegial work environment with a sense of humor;
- Strong research and writing skills; ability to edit and provide feedback on the work of others;
- Commitment, dependability, and a positive outlook;
- Flexibility and ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment;
- International work and experience highly desirable;
- Fluency in professional written English usage, grammar, and punctuation; and
- Proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese or both are highly desirable
The annual salary range is $70,000 to $80,000 and includes a set of benefits including health insurance. This is a full-time position based in Washington, D.C.,
