Internal Wholesaler

FIRM: Water Island Capital, advisor to The Arbitrage Funds, was founded in 2000 with a focus on event driven investing. The firm, which is based in New York City and is 100% employee owned, manages $1.25 billion in public, private and sub-advised funds. Water Island Capital is a recognized leader in liquid, non-traditional investments.

OPPORTUNITY: Our firm seeks a highly motivated business development professional to join the firm’s Manhattan-based team as an Internal Wholesaler.   This individual will assist in the cultivation and maintenance of client relationships by engaging in daily telephonic and e-mail communication with current and prospective clients.  By exercising a strong sense of organizational and relationship-building capability, this individual will have the opportunity to provide service to a large region containing several thousand advisors across all channels.

ROLE:  Internal Wholesalers work with the firm’s field-based External Wholesalers to assist in the cultivation and maintenance of client relationships in designated territories. In addition, Internal Wholesalers provide general assistance to the Sale Team.  In addition to understanding the alternative investment landscape, Internal Wholesalers will be expected to effectively communicate concise yet effective investment ideas to advisors and analysts.  Periodic travel within the territory will be necessary. Conference attendance is anticipated.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1+ years financial services industry business development experience in a telephone-based sales setting. 
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess proven relationship-building skills.
  • Superior organizational capability and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Willingness to work in a team-based environment and contribute to effective territory planning and execution
  • Periodic travel within assigned territory (<10%); attendance at conferences is expected.


LICENSES: FINRA Series 7, 63 required

CERTIFICATIONS: CFA, CAIA, CFP or progress toward such designation preferred

EDUCATION:      Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree preferred
