Salary Range: $9,370 - $14,494

 

The role: 

Join our team as the DMV innovation and planning manager! In this role, you will direct the innovation and planning service group to ensure the success of change initiatives through developing policy and program priorities and utilizing resources. You will be a member of DMV’s executive leadership team, which is instrumental in defining DMV’s vision, mission and key strategic priorities. This position is responsible for identifying needed and desired change – in technology, processes and communications – to help prioritize competing interests, and deliver initiatives that improve how DMV serves all Oregonians. A day in the life:

  • Direct the overall operation of the innovation and planning service group.
  • Act as a member of the DMV executive leadership team and collaborate across the division to achieve the best outcome for customers.
  • Lead diverse sections responsible for managing projects and initiatives both large and small ensuring standards and methods are implemented and key outcomes are obtained for the division. 
  • Negotiate large contracts, especially IT (information technology) contracts and manage their implementation and continued performance. 
  • Participate in governance and other groups at the DMV division, ODOT agency and statewide enterprise level.
  • Plan strategically for the future of the innovation and planning service group and DMV as a whole. 
  • Perform human resources related functions including selection, training, coaching developing and disciplining staff.
  • Develop the biennial budget request and operating budget for the service group.
  • Guide staff on effective use of systems, observe and learn from staff, in the field and at headquarters, and take that information to improve systems and processes to better serve customers. 
  • Work in a standard office environment with occasional travel within the state required to our 59 field offices. In office work required the first six months and then after training, hybrid work options available with up to 2 days per week remote work optional.

  • The salary range listed is the non-PERS monthly salary range. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, the salary range will increase by  6.95%.

Minimum qualifications:

Five years of management experience; 

 

OR 


Two years of management experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

 

Special qualifications:

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
