Activision Blizzard

Rendering Engineer

May - August 2022 • Portland, ME

What I liked

Especially, my manager took care of me a lot. He taught me about graphics knowledge when he had time to do so. Also, there was a great internship program where we met someone in Activision Blizzard and they shared their experience.

What I wish was different

Not much. But I had trouble getting a return offer letter from the company. It seems like the company's HR team does not work well. Although, the engineers in Activision Blizzard are all the best.

Advice

Just be prepared with plenty of background knowledge on the basic graphics features like GPU architecture, shader programming, graphics debugging tools, and so on. Also, try to expand your networks during the internship. The internship is a really good opportunity that you can expand your networks with other people who work in the same industry. Lastly, try to do what you want to do.

Global Information Security Intern

May - August 2020 • Santa Monica, CA

What I liked

Activision has a great internship program for curious and fun minds that like to explore things both inside and outside of their specific field/discipline. The company has a fun and interactive work culture. The projects that teams assign to interns are meaningful and will immediately make an impact on the company. Also, there are so many great networking opportunities outside of work for students to explore!

What I wish was different

I really wish that the internship was in person so that I could experience life working in the Santa Monica, CA office. I was apart of the first remote intern class in Activision history.

Advice

Do not think that you have to be a gamer to work for a videogame company. Activision looks for a diverse group of students to apply to the program. Anyone of any discipline, interests, or skillset should apply!

Everyone at the studio was fantastic. They made every effort to make the experience revolve around things I could take with me and learning the most I could about the industry.
