IT Business Analyst

May 2019 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

I liked being given full responsibility to lead projects at the same level as a full-time associate. This gave me invaluable experience that I easily was able to impress interviewers with when it became time to search for post-grad job offers. I was not treated as "the intern", I was treated with respect and trust by my team and managers.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to gain more experience working with different software (Power BI, Microsoft SQL Server, Visual Studios, etc.). While I gained great technical knowledge, I wasn't able to have an abundance of hands-on experience. This will completely depend on what team you land on.

Advice

Throw yourself into projects. Learn to be comfortable with the uncomfortable. When you get assigned to a new task, make sure you become an expert on the topic and own it. If you become an expert on your project, you will become an invaluable asset and prove you can handle responsibility.

Financial Analyst Intern

April 2019 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

Baird's work culture is unequivocally the best I have experienced. This internship program offers a perfect blend of relationship-building opportunities and real world work. Baird encourages career exploration through many networking opportunities, and associates are more than willing to introduce you to their network. This internship has enhanced my soft skills and technical knowledge through junior analyst level work. If you are seeking to be surrounded by hard-working, intellectual, and supportive individuals, then Baird is where you want to be.

Private Wealth Management Intern

May - August 2018 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

Very inviting culture for interns to add value through meaningful projects throughout the summer. I was treated like a core member of my team, and everyday I learned something new to build a solid foundation of overall business knowledge/aptitude. The intern case competition was exciting to collaborate with students from various departments to present ideas for positive change within the firm.

Accounting Intern

August 2018 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

I really enjoy the teamwork and culture of the company. Everybody is referred by their first name rather than Mr. or Mrs. Even the executives treat the interns as if they were on the same playing field and experience level. Every individual I met was very inviting and welcoming to the company.

What I wish was different

I don't have a single complaint in all honesty.

Advice

Make sure to get every ounce of joy and experience out of the internship before moving on to a full-time position because an internship only happens once or twice in your life.
