Data Science Intern

June - August 2021 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Working in the office with many other interns. It was nice to see how much work was being done by other interns like me. I really enjoyed learning SQL in Snowflake, Tableau, and pandas in Python. The best part was growing my network and meeting and working with some bright minds in the alternative investment industry.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been better prepared. Something I am working on now is not staying complacent and learning new things on my own. I also wish that I had been more proactive in growing my network and asking questions.

Advice

People are there to help you, so take advantage of your network. The worst thing someone can say is no. We are all building connections with people in hopes that those connections lead to something more. What good is it if you never keep in contact and reach out to those connections.

What I liked

Fantastic experience with a very reputable firm. Very welcoming to interns. Many new and young employees. Great office.

What I wish was different

Manhattan is not an ideal place to live for many reasons, including cost of living, commuting, etc.

Advice

I learned a lot from the other interns who were incredibly talented and intelligent. Make friends with your fellow interns!
