What I liked

I loved working hands on with people and starting a new experience in the retail/corporate world!

What I wish was different

I wish the management was different. The entire work environment was almost toxic and felt a lot like high school. Co-workers were petty towards one another and would even get in screaming arguments in the back break room.

Advice

Make sure you keep your head up and don't get discouraged by the fast-pace of the work environment. It can be exhausting but there's always another shift to prove yourself.

I enjoyed the fast-paced experience, working with as a team with my co-workers, and interacting with customers.

What I wish was different

I wish I had taken less time to get out of my comfort zone. At first interacting with customers made me nervous, but after some times working there it became a lot easier.

Advice

Customer service is an important aspect of the job so don't be afraid to interact with customers, often times they can be very friendly.

What I liked

Something that I really liked about this job was they taught me how to multitask. This job also helped me get better with customer service. They also taught me different things like doing the Cash register, doing the fitting room, greeting customers, and learning how to work as a team.

What I wish was different

Something that I wish to be different would be the break time I had. I wish I had a 20 minute break time instead of a short break time.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share about this experience would be lean how to network with your team. Your team will help you with the job, and you will get the job done working as a team.

I was trained in back of the house and front of the house, so I was always doing something different. The other associates were great to work with. I was able to lead the floor for hours at a time.

What I wish was different

I wish the management had been a little more on the same page to keep a sense of cohesiveness and consistency throughout the store.

Nothing, it was a retail job and therefore, there wasn't a lot that could be different.

Work in retail for at least a month or so because it builds character and opens ones' eyes to the different people in the world.

The leadership position was new for me but surprisingly I fell into the role smoothly.

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten a grow in pay, it was just more hours and some quarterly bonuses but the experience was good.

Advice

I don’t know that I really have any, but I can definitely suggest this sort of experience for anyone who may go into a field where leadership is required. This isn’t a role you technically have to committ indefinitely too.
