Amazing team of supportive and well-prepared people where you will grow tremendously in a short amount of time.

I would have loved even more involvement in the programming aspects of the division.

Communications/External Affairs Intern

May - August 2017 • Washington, DC

What I liked

Flexibility of what I could do with my time at IRI. Freedom to do projects the way I thought was best. Exposure to all different kinds of people, as well as different places in the world.

What I wish was different

I was not in a country specific department (IRI has different departments for different areas in the world ie. Middle East, Africa, etc.) I think that would have been really neat to experience that a little more, since I was in the comms department, but I still got a taste of what each department did.

Advice

Make the absolute best of the time you have. Make as many connections as you can, and follow up with those people after you are done with your internship. Explore the city you are in and take advantage of all the opportunities available to you!
