Technician Intern

What I liked

I got the whole experience of working here and I was able to gain so much hands-on experience. The staff was very informative and helpful and I learned all the ins and outs of the field.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have been there longer!

Advice

This job is very hands-on, you will get dirty and sweaty and be on the move constantly so if you are interested just be ready to work hard! But expect to gain a lot of experience as well. I recommend these internships to anyone interested because you get the feel of working in the department.

Wildlife Intern

What I liked

I gained hands on experience catching and banding waterfowl and dove. I learned how to manage a wetland ecosystem through water control structures and brush management. I learned how to drive airboats and heavy machinery.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have had more chances to catch waterfowl and set up duck traps.

Advice

Be ready to work in a very humid environment and to work off of boats a lot.
