Dell Technologies

Support and Deployment Services Intern

May - September 2018 • Hopkinton, MA

What I liked

I loved being able to see what working in an office setting is all about. I also loved my boss and colleagues - they were so helpful and understanding.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had done more Industrial Engineering specific things, instead of a lot of analytics. I also wish I had been given my own project to fully complete this summer.

Advice

Definitely be outgoing and ask for things to do! They don't want to overwhelm you, but they'll always let you help!

Software Engineering Intern

June - August 2022 • Boston, MA

What I liked

I was able to work on an extremely interesting project that allowed me to learn and grow as a software engineer. The best part about this internship experience was the team I was placed on. All the full-time workers were amazing people and a valuable resource to answer my questions as I learned. There were also plenty of opportunities to meet other interns and full-time workers in person, including the chance to travel to Texas for a week long event.

What I wish was different

Nothing! Everything about the internship was absolutely amazing.

Dell Technologies has a lot of different products that they offer! Take the time to learn what everything does, because it will help you understand where your project stands a little better.

Software Solutions Engineer

June - August 2021 • Round Rock, TX

What I liked

I liked how it was a technical job, but wasn't only coding. I am a social person so sitting at my desk all day coding is not always my favorite thing to do. With this role I coded at times, but I was also able to talk to clients and help them with their solution needs.

What I wish was different

I wish it would had been in person. Being remote it was a little difficult to understand the day to day.

Advice

I would say reach out to your mentors and always be ready and willing to ask for help!

Systems engineer

June - August 2021 • Cambridge, MA

What I liked

My team and fellow interns, along with the mentors assigned to me

What I wish was different

Obviously being in person would have been a lot cooler but they did great having it virtual too. I was able to get into LATAM Dell and meet people there which made my experience a whole lot better getting to sit in meetings in Spanish/collaborate in Spanish. It really brightened my time there and that should be offered as an option outright

Advice

There is a visible effort in trying to diversity the work place but do not expect diversity outside your intern group. Be involved in the ERG meetings and network!

CoC Intern Analyst

May - July 2020 • Round Rock, TX

What I liked

Dell technologies provided a seamless online interview experience. While many other businesses struggled to transition teams to a WFH model, Dell employees seemed to be more than ready. My internship was supposed to be online. However, due to COVID, my experience was completely remote. Dell did not underdeliver in areas of leadership and mentorship.

What I wish was different

Nothing. My experience with Dell was one of the most unique moments of my student life. Everyone was helpful and willing to network and mentor as well.

Advice

When I accepted the internship with Dell, I often thought that my participation was way under the value of what Dell produces. However, I would say to not hesitate for opportunities that come your way. Once you begin to network, you will realize that there were others in the spot you are finding yourself. There is nothing wrong with not knowing something. However, you must remain open to learning as there will always be something new to explore.

What I wish was different

I wish I took more notes and saved my work personally. Also, I wish I connected with more people on LinkedIn to help with finding a job after college.

Advice
