The Boeing Company

Electrical Engineering Intern

May - August 2023 • Huntsville, AL

What I liked

I liked how collaborative the environment was and how helpful my manager was

What I wish was different

I wish we were given more intern tasks or an intern project to keep us even more occupied on days when we didn't have much to do.

Advice

Don't be afraid to reach out to other managers to learn about their division and what they do.

What I liked

Working in a company big enough to offer me opportunities that many other smaller companies may not be able to do. Learning outside of my job roles. Networking.

Computer Hardware Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • St. Louis, MO

What I liked

Great mentoring, chance to take on valuable assignments. Most managers understand that 10-12 weeks is a very short amount of time to actually get a project together, however, my manager did a very good job of finding me valuable work. The networking/mentoring is incredible, Boeing cares very much about their employees professional growth.

What I wish was different

This is really just a part of working for a big company, but I felt at times that I wasn't able to see the impact of my work on the final product. However, this is something you kind of have to accept when you work for an employer that employs 150,000+ people. However, something one should always keep in mind when looking for the right position.

Advice

If you are able to intern for Boeing, take time every day to reach out to someone to talk to. The network you build and the mentors you gain will be the single most valuable thing you take away from this internship. Yes, high pay is great, but if you do manage to establish a network, it will pay multiple dividends throughout the rest of your career.

Electrical Engineering Intern

June - August 2019 • El Segundo, CA

What I liked

The Company's staff and engineers were very friendly and accommodating to us first time interns. They provided an environment that created good opportunities to learn and develop technical, leadership, and social skills that surely will help us in the years to come.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship was longer! There was so much to do and learn, but the 7 week timeline was just not enough to fit in everything I wanted to do.

Advice

Try and help out with a variety of projects on site to get a complete picture as to what the company does!

Procurement Intern

May - July 2019 • Everett, WA

What I liked

Management was very supportive and helpful to my growth and development professionally. The product is absolutely amazing. Allowed to just walk into the factory and on the planes when you have free time. Great people to work with and an awesome company.

What I wish was different

Not much. Returning for a second internship is a little challenging as new interns are extended offers first.

Advice

Don't be afraid to talk to other employees for help. Managers are busy and while they are helpful, you might only talk to them a few minutes every week. There's lots of smart and experienced people here, ask them for help? Also, make sure to talk to other employees in other roles. There are so many opportunities here and talking to different people is the best way to find them!
